You don’t understand how men think. A naked woman is a naked women, regardless if she’s swimming with a dolphin or getting it on with her “teacher”.

  2. Roxy says:

Some people are too uptight. They are raised to think their bodies are dirty and shameful which makes them uncomfortable around the naked form. Especially if they like it. Not everyone feels this way (thank goodness).
A far as porn I don’t find most porn exotic, more a mechanical thing. Playboy I would call exotic because it’s not so blatant in it’s posing than just a woman with her legs wide open.
Just ignore (and pity) those who can’t see beauty and know that there are lots of others(men&women) who can appreciate art without any hangups.

it’s not just art photography, christian morality has our society so screwed up that we have a totally unhealthy attitude about anything remotely sexual.

I think the difference between art and pornography is understandable to most people, actually.

But I think it *is* subjective just where to draw the line and the edge is not a clear cut thing. Of course some things I could definately call art and some things I would definately call porn. A close-up pic of a woman posing with her legs spread like she’s getting ready to have a pelvic exam is clearly Not art to me.

And please understand that many classical nude paintings that may hang in art museums today were eye candy in their own day.

btw, personally I think women’s bodies are beautiful and I would Much rather see a woman swimming nude with dolphins than porn! :)

  5. Pork C says:

Yeah, most people in society equates nudity with porn. I blame it on the media.

What do they think about Michelangelo’s David? The Venus de Milo? These are considered classical pieces.
Unfortunately, we are conditioned to see the nude human form as obscene, bad, forbidden. Hopefully, society will get over this. I have no problem with tastefully done nude photographs, they help me on my own studies of the nude body.

  7. Lucky says:

i think its a guys thing. they see nude and assume its all the same. women see nude and we view it as something to be jelous over cause guys dont view it as atristic. is a man vs women thing. so when you use the example of the women swimming with a dolphin. a guy might be looking at a part of her body as men do like her butt and her boobs and as a women we might get jelous and compair our butt and boobs to her. lol its insane but thats how society is lol..

Do you have any memory of the history of the Middle Ages, or as they were sometimes called, the Dark Ages? They lasted for a thousand years, and were ended by the Renaissance and the invention of movable type. All universities were closed, there was very little literacy, and what was available to read was in Latin.

We are now entering the Voluntary Dark Ages. People simple ignore rational thought, refuse to read, insist on the primacy of their own religion and isolate themselves voluntarily.

Stand by for less. There is a goddess, and her name is Irony. In an age where we have access to the greatest library that the world has known siting on our desktops, large masses of people prefer to have a dog’s attitude toward life. That is, “if you cant eat it or f*ck it, p*ss on it.”

If you do not believe me, circum spice.

  9. Tahuti says:

Indeed, there are many people who don’t know art, and are badly educated, or miseducated by their churches, and choose to forget the education they learned in public schools.

  10. namedeletedbyrequest says:

I would like to be kind and say it’s ignorance, but there is no excuse to be ignorant. It’s stupidity.

  11. az_reb2 says:

it is the way we are raise in the U.S.A. that anything that is nude is wrong so people that are in Europe are taught that the body is a beautiful piece of art

  12. BlueManticore says:

As they say, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. While one person sees nude photography as art, another sees it as garbage. The same can be said for nude paintings or erotic romance novels.

  13. artphotosforsale says:

As a photographer focusing primarily on fine art nudes, I share your frustrations. It’s frustrating to spend so much time and energy showing that the human form can be a thing of beauty, not sexual, only to have people not even look at enough to try to understand the difference.

I think unfortunately most of our society, at least in the U.S. does equate nudity with sex. I even had one printer refuse to print a very tame fine art nude, as they said it violated their obscenity rule. They later told me they feel any nudity, no matter how mild, is automatically obscene material.

As you said, there is no money it art nudes either. I know of several very talented fine art photographers who can’t get their images into galleries because the galleries know too many people won’t understand the difference between it and porn.

The irony is that you know so many people who are being critical of models and photographers who do fine art nudes, are huge consumers of pornography.

Hopefully some day attitudes will change.

  14. Vangorn2000 says:

I honestly believe that so many people equate nude and porn because both nudity and pornography have the same restrictions applied to them by the FCC, at least on regular television. CBS was fined a half million dollars for a one second boob shot, which isn’t even a sexual thing! (I wonder if the fine would have been more if it had been male or female genitalia exposed instead…somehow I doubt it).

Also, both porn and nude are associated with fear and embarrasment. People are afraid to be seen naked because they are taught it is wrong. Some Christians cite Adam hiding from God because he was naked as proof that nudity is wrong, but I don’t believe that…he hid because he was bad, and told a feeble lie like a young child who didn’t want to get caught.

The same with porn…so many people don’t want to admit they watch sometimes, yet the industry makes billions every year, and is one of the few consistently profitable markets on the internet. Go figure.

So because they have all the same taboos on them, people assume they are the same.
